Yercaud
Yercaud is a small hill-station located at an altitude of 1600m/5300ft. It is at a distance of 220km from Bangalore, and 15km from Salem. The place got its name due to the abundance of trees near a lake: Yeri – Lake, Kadu – Forest, which means Lake Forest. There is also a reserved forest next to the hill station, and several wild animals including deer, bison, rabbits, foxes, mongoose, snakes are often spotted.
