Kundala Dam

Kudala Dam is located at about 20 km from Munnar and is at a height of 1700 m above sea level. The dam was constructed as part of a hydro-electric project, and preserves water which forms a beautiful Kundala Lake. It is an absolute delight to watch the dam, surrounded by water, in the backdrop of green hills formed by eucalyptus, pine trees and tea plantations! The view has an added attraction once every twelve years when Nilkuruji Flowers blossom. The rare flowers grow abundantly in this region, adding an extra blue color to the landscape.

For visitors, Kundala Dam/Lake has variety to options to spend the time. The banks of the lake are well shaded by the thick trees and provide ample space to sit and watch the beauty of Kundala lake in absolute serenity. You can opt for several types of boating facilities here including pedal boating, row boating, or go for a shikara ride. There are few other street vendors who provide various entertainment activities like balloon shooting, horse riding, and few small games. There are also some small food stalls/vendors who provide quick food, soft drinks, tender coconut and so on.
