Jaswant Thada
Jaswant Thada is one of the prime attractions in Jodhpur. It is a memorial built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II who was the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur. From Jaswant Thada, you can get magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort on one side, and Jodhpur town on the other. Apart from the spectacular views, the royal memorial is built with white marble and has beautiful intricate craft work on the white marble.

The main hall of the memorial has portraits of several Rathore rulers. The whole design of the central hall is magnificent. Its impeccable design and architecture displays the intricacy of the royal Rajput style architecture! Apart from the portraits and the work, the view from the windows provide amazing views of the town of Jodhpur.
View from the Window
Apart from the central hall which is the main memorial of Maharaja, there are three other memorials, and a royal crematorium too. Just like the central hall, these memorials too are built on white marble, with excellent work and designs on it. The marble itself is a very thin sheet, and is very well polished. Due to the thin sheet of marble and the colors used on it for the art work, the monument and the design stands out as sun rays fall on it.

While the premises of Jaswant Thada has the beautiful memorials, the place at the entrance of Jaswant Thada is abundant with natural beauty. A small lake around the premises, against the backdrop of a small hill provides a very panoramic view! The small lake is filled with a large number of birds chirping all around. You can spend some peaceful time around the lake and spending some time alone with the nature.

Just opposite the lake, you can find a life-sized statue of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II seated on a horse, and looking towards the Mehrangarh Fort. The statue is well protected with grilled railings around it. This prevents the visitors from getting close to the statue and climbing on it, and thus protecting it too!
