Kufri is a small but a very popular hill station located at a distance of 20 km from Shimla. Kufri is perhaps the most commercial of all the places to visit in and around Shimla. Mahasu Peak

The most famous places to visit is Mahasu Peak, which is the highest peak in Kufri. The access to Mahasu peak requires a hike/trek or horse/pony ride for about 3-4 km. Due to Kufri being a very popular hill station, and is visited by almost everyone who visits Shimla, there are many people who offer horse ride from Kufri to Mahasu Peak. You can also walk/hike through the path. While it is a mild trek with not-so steep ascents, it is better to avoid walking but take the horse ride instead. No, I am not marketing for those who offer horse rides! The path to walk/trek is the same as the horse ride, however, whole path is very stinky and filled with the waste from all the horses! If you decide to walk, there may be few places where stepping on the horse waste are unavoidable!

Yak for visitors' entertainment :-(

Once you enter the peak, you can see the whole peak is bustling with visitors and activities. Visitors can enjoy horse riding, yak riding, skiing (only in Jan/Feb), numerous view points from where you can see several snow capped mountains, many stalls that sell local handicrafts and woolen apparels, and few fast food stalls. Recently, a go karting track is also developed for visitors which they claim to be the highest karting track in India!
