Lamb’s Rock is a view point that is located at a distance of 8 km from Coonoor. The rock is named after Captain Lamb, who was instrumental in finding a path to the view point, and making it accessible. The viewpoint itself is at a height of above 5000 ft / 1500m, and offers spectacular view of the Nilgiri mountain ranges.
Lamb’s Rock is also called suicide point, as the landscape after the rock just drops several hundreds of feet below into a thick forest. The view point is fenced to avoid any accidents.
Lamb’s Rock is accessible by a small but steep uphill trek/hike of about 700 meters. It takes around 10 – 15 minutes of trek depending on the fitness levels, but you can stop at multiple places to take some pictures of the landscape that you can see as you hike up!
