Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden is a huge garden that is maintained by the Horticulture Department of Tamil Nadu. It is spread over 50 acres of land, and has a wide collection of trees, plants, flowers of various colors and collectively has over 600 species of flowers/plants/trees. The garden is very well maintained, and has ample space even for tourists to sit around the greenery and spend some time. When you visit botanical garden, look out for “Monkey Puzzle Tree”, a tree that monkeys cannot climb!

 

 

 

The first section, near the entrance, has a huge lawn, a small pond and a fern house (that has over 100 species of ferns). The main attraction here is the map of India that is designed by few plants. The next section (after climbing up few steps), has a rose garden, and several aquatic plants and flowers grown on artificial ponds. The next section is at a height, and you get a bird’s eye view of the whole botanical garden. There are several flowers of various colors in this section.
