Urby’s Premium Wallet for Men
The word ‘wallet’ started gaining a different meaning these days. With the rising of digital wallets, e-wallets and crypto-currency wallets, it seems strange to define the term to exactly what it meant few years back! Talking about physical wallets seems like a yesteryear’s topic. It was just few days back when one of my friends asked my opinion if the era of physical wallets is coming to an end. After all, we are moving towards a cashless society! True that we are moving towards a cashless world! But wallets store more than just cash, isn’t it? What about credit cards? Also, these days, every retail brand has a loyalty card that one has to present while billing! And if you drive or ride a vehicle, you need to carry your driving license along with you! Moreover, you need to carry the vehicle’s registration card too! It would definitely take many more years to get all these things into your smart phone or a tab!
What to look for when buying a wallet?
The primary function of a wallet is, of course, to hold money. And these days, it should have enough slots to hold many cards (be it credit/debit, or license, or loyalty cards). While most (or all) of the wallets do have these, how would you differentiate a good wallet with a great one? Well, there are many things to look for. Few of them are highlighted in this post, as I review one of the premium leather wallets from Urby.
|I received a sponsored wallet from Urby to provide a review of the same. The opinion and review about the wallet are honest and totally unbiased.|
My first observation of Urby’s wallet is the quality of leather. When I opened the package, I could get the smell of fresh leather. At that very moment, I knew I was holding a high-quality wallet in my hand! The style and the design adds to elegance of the wallet. The wallet looks better than the images posted on their website!
Most leather wallets in the market have awesome looking leather from outside. Usually, the fabric that is used to separate different slots is of the lowest quality, and wears off over time. However, I must say that Urby has got this one correct. The fabric used to separate the slots is thick, and has an awesome design too!
Slots in the wallet
The wallet has two main sections to keep the currency notes. With the introduction of new notes in India, I find the two sections very useful to segregate the newer notes with the older ones. In my old wallet, where there was just one section, I could find the newer (and smaller in size) note stuck between two older notes, and often went undetected.
There are three slots to keep the cards. While the slot is meant to keep just one card, I tried fitting in two of them in one slot. It just fits fine. So the wallet can at most fit six cards in these slots. The wallet also has a slot to keep the coins! You can have about 5-6 coins in that slot. While the wallet definitely can hold more coins in the slot, it becomes bulgy as all the coins settle at the bottom.
Apart from the slots mentioned above, there are also two slide-in slots. If you fall short of slots for the cards, you can use these slide-in slots. You can keep as many cards in these slots, and the wallet doesn’t get bulky! You can also use these slots to keep some important documents, or a few passport size photos of yourself, or some visiting/business cards.
Edges and Folding
The quality of the wallet can be determined by the way its edges are designed. The edges of Urby’s wallet are rounded and very well stitched. The edges are very firm, and still does not prink you when in the pocket.
The wallet looks very slim after folding it. Even after filling the wallet with about 15-20 currency notes, 5-6 cards, and inserting a folded document, the bend/fold in the wallet is very narrow. I moved everything that I had in my old wallet to the new, and the new wallet was not as bloated as the old one!
The Urby Touch
Who does not like products that are customized? Urby makes their products extra special by personalizing it. You can have your name or message printed on it. You may have already seen or read about it in my review of Passport Holder from Urby. The wallet I received did have my name on it. For me, it is a feel good factor to have my name printed in golden color, which stands out against the black wallet. On the other side of the wallet, Urby has its own logo engraved. Isn’t it so sweet of Urby to have my name shine instead of their own logo? 🙂
Another signature of Urby is its packaging of the product. Urby is really serious about getting the product to the customer in a good shape. The wallet comes with Urby branded hard casing that protects the wallet from the damage during the transit. The packaging also includes a canvas drawstring pouch that can used if needed.
If you are looking for a premium leather wallet, I would strongly recommend going through the collection of Men’s Wallets. They have a huge collection with wide variety of wallets that will definitely suit your style and preference.
Urby has recently launched Wallets for Women and has wide collection of wristlets, slim wallets, mini purses and more! You can browse through the collection and choose your favourite one. If you already have a wallet from their collection, do let me know how you liked it 🙂
